For families living apart

One text a day to your parent. If they don't reply, we tell you.

Check on them every day, without treating them like a patient. No app, no smartphone, no gadget to set up. They reply, you relax. If they don't, we alert you.

Zero App Fatigue: Works on any basic UK mobile number.
Preserves Independence: Feels like a friendly text, not surveillance.

Morning Mum! Hope you have a lovely day. Reply with anything to check in.

DailyNod · 08:30

No app No smartphone No wearable No camera No GPS Nothing to install

If their phone can receive a text message, DailyNod works — even a phone from 2008.

How it works

The whole product is four text messages

No jargon, no dashboard. Just what's sent, and to whom.

1. Check-in · sent to your parent, 08:30

Hi Barbara, just checking in! Reply OK to let us know you're doing well.

2. Reminder · sent to your parent, if no reply

Hi Barbara, just following up — we haven't heard back from you yet. Reply OK when you get a chance!

3. Second reminder · optional, still no reply

Hi Barbara, we still haven't heard from you. Please reply OK so we know you're alright.

4. The alert · sent to you

Alert: Barbara has not checked in and has not responded to reminders. Please check on them.

On a normal day, none of this happens — you hear nothing at all. That silence is the product.

Why not just call her?

You could. Most people do — and it's not quite enough.

A call tells you she was fine at 7pm. It says nothing about 9am Tuesday. And when she doesn't pick up, the call creates worry instead of answering it — is she in the garden, at the shops, or on the floor?

So keep calling. Just don't make it the thing that has to notice.

On dignity

She won't feel watched

Most elderly parents refuse panic buttons, medical trackers, or home cameras. They view them as an admission of frailty.

DailyNod changes the psychology entirely. To your parent, it is just a friendly morning text. It maintains their dignity, stays out of their home, and takes two seconds to answer.

  • Nothing to install, nothing to wear, nothing in her house.
  • She replies with anything — one letter is enough.
  • She can stop it herself, any time, by texting STOP.

What to say tonight

"It's not for you, Mum — it's so I stop ringing you three times to check."

"You're in control of it. Text STOP whenever you like, and it's gone."

Honest limits

What happens when things don't go to plan

Phone's off, or no signal

We retry. If we still can't reach them, we treat it as a missed check-in and tell you.

At the shops

That's what the reminder window is for — a gentle nudge first, before anyone worries.

Away for a while

Text PAUSE, or pick dates on the settings page. Check-ins stop and start again on their own.

If we ever fail

Billed monthly, no contract. You'd be told with notice and refunded for whatever's unused.

Pricing

One flat plan. Complete mental relief.

No hidden fees, no binding contracts.

Two parents at the same address? Add the second for +£2/month — they both get the check-in, and a reply from either one covers both.

DailyNod is a check-in reminder, not an emergency service. If your parent doesn't reply we text you, so a real person can follow up. Nothing calls 999 automatically. In an emergency, always call 999 directly.

Billed monthly. Cancel any time and we refund whatever you haven't used, automatically. You'll confirm your details and your cancellation rights during setup, before payment.

Who's behind DailyNod

DailyNod is built and run by one person, and it's brand new - we're looking for our first families right now, which is exactly why the price is what it is. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend to be bigger than we are. The service is built for the UK and uses a UK number; full legal details are on our legal notice.

We're not a call centre and there's no sales team here. If you want to ask something before you sign up, email [email protected] and a real person will answer. How we handle your data is on our privacy page.

What we know: her name, her mobile number, and whether she replied. That's it.
What we don't do: sell it, share it, market to her, or track where she is.
Not in the UK? Tell us where you are

DailyNod only works with UK mobile numbers today. If you'd want this for a parent elsewhere, tell us where and we'll email you once - only if we launch there.

We'll email you once, only if DailyNod launches where you are. No newsletter, no sharing your address. Unsubscribe any time.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my parent forgets to reply?

During setup you choose two times: when the check-in message goes out (e.g. 10am), and when a gentle reminder follows if there's no reply (e.g. 11am). If they still haven't responded after the reminder, you're alerted immediately. Both times are fully yours to configure.

Is this a replacement for emergency monitoring?

No. DailyNod is a non-invasive early-warning routine check. It does not dispatch emergency services or contact medical personnel. It alerts you the instant a routine touchpoint is missed.

Can I use this if I live outside the UK?

Absolutely. DailyNod is built precisely for global expats. Your parent needs a valid UK mobile number (+44) to receive messages, but your alerts can route to any international number.

What happens if you stop running DailyNod?

A fair question for a service run by one person. You're billed monthly with no contract, so there's nothing locking you in either way. If DailyNod ever had to stop, you'd be told with notice and refunded for anything unused - the same policy that applies if you cancel yourself.

Is this right for a parent with memory problems?

Probably not on its own. If your parent may forget how to reply, or could reply while unwell, a check-in can give false reassurance - which is worse than no check-in at all. DailyNod works best for someone who's simply independent and living alone, not for monitoring a medical condition.
